Nestled conveniently off Sibley Memorial Highway in St. Paul, Bogey's is more than just your typical neighborhood bar — it’s a genuine local haven where familiarity and lively spirit fuse effortlessly. This intimate spot radiates a warm, hometown vibe that instantly welcomes you, making it clear why regulars and visitors alike keep coming back. Whether you’re winding down after a long day or gearing up for an evening out, Bogey's offers an inviting atmosphere that feels like your own personal retreat.
Step inside to find an unpretentious, cozy environment where the live music on Mondays energizes the space and the crowd. As Tony Compton notes, the "amazing staff and a great atmosphere" create a vibe that keeps things fun and lively without ever feeling overwhelming. The bartenders and patrons almost feel like an extended family, with shared smiles and friendly nods greeting you from the get-go — Denise Stanley perfectly captures this warmth by pointing out there's "always a friendly face."
One of Bogey’s signature charms lies in its classic bar offerings, centering on well-loved brews like Michelob Amberbock, Schmidt Beer, and their famous beer and tequila shots. Complementing these drinks is a thoughtful touch: free popcorn, an irresistible little nibble that adds a nostalgic and comforting element to your visit. It’s a simple yet effective way to enhance the laid-back camaraderie that rules here.
The clientele typically hovers around an older crowd, bringing a relaxed and mature energy that sets it apart from a dive bar, yet it manages to maintain a refreshing casualness. Nicole Brown highlights this balance, describing Bogey’s as “more lively and friendly than just a dive," with a cozy patio perfect for chilling or smoking, especially on warm days.
Situated near a liquor store, Bogey’s is a perfect pit stop—whether you’re passing through or settling in for a while. S W’s comment about the bar's "small and quaint" nature for groups adds to its charm, while also hinting at an experience that carries a subtle undercurrent of old-school character reminiscent of a "Goodfellas" bar.
If you’re seeking a spot that combines genuine friendliness with affordable drinks, free snacks, and good music in a setting that feels like a home away from home, Bogey’s is a must-visit in St. Paul. James Beaudoin’s experience says it all: "Friendly bartender and crowd. Such a locals home away from home feel." For those who cherish authentic local flavor—beyond just the drinks—Bogey’s delivers a comfortable, memorable escape.

I LOVE the home town atmosphere!! There's always a friendly face!!!
Very casual spot, more lively and friendly than just a dive. Mostly older white folks, fun music, free popcorn, cheap beer, and patio for chilling and a smoke. Shared parking lot with the liquor store right off the freeway above the great Miss.
Visiting some friends and they took me here. Friendly bartender and crowd. Such a locals home away from home feel.
Good pit stop coming from or going into st.paul. small and quaint for small groups. Free popcorn and $Hedgies Pizza for food but our stop was non food related! Except for Saturday's and Wed. Kinda has a feel like a goodfellas bar.
Great little Bar. Stopped in for the first time in years despite living just across the River, and we're glad we did!!!. Super fun atmosphere and vibe. Bartender Darcy was amazing. Everybody was super nice and made us feel welcome. Free popcorn too. The grill was fired-up outside (every other Saturday, with the best Tacos on the planet on the alternating Saturdays) with $10 Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers, and Chicken sandwiches, all served with genuine Krinkle-Cut fries. My friend had the Chicken sandwich and it was fabulous!!! Best $10 you'll ever spend. We will definitely be back!!!!
Saw this place on the Jazz 88 FM calendar. We checked out the blues jam Monday night. It was a fun time. Is definitely go back for the meat raffle.
I have to admit, I was a little nervous when I saw all the police badges on the wall, but everyone here was super friendly. The bartender was really nice. He kept checking in on us, and I felt like we’ve known him forever, even though we just met.
